DSS and Military Neutralize 45 Bandits Loyal to Dogo Gide in Niger State

Tactical teams from the Department of State Services (DSS), backed by the Nigerian military, launched a daring surprise raid and killed at least 45 bandits around Kuchi town in Munya Local Government Area of Niger State.

The joint operation, carried out stealthily, dealt a significant blow to bandits loyal to notorious kingpin Dogo Gide and marked another victory in the ongoing offensive against terrorism in the region.

Security sources confirmed that DSS operatives tracked the bandits with precision and foiled their plan to invade villages in Kuchi. The bandits, reportedly mobilized by Dogo Gide, had gathered to orchestrate widespread attacks.

Intelligence gathered through renewed covert efforts revealed that the terrorists—originating from Bilbis forest in Maru LGA of Zamfara State and parts of Kaduna State—received invitations from Gide to target communities in Kuchi.

According to a top security source, around 100 armed bandits advanced toward Kuchi town early Monday, June 2, 2025, intending to launch a coordinated assault. But DSS operatives and military forces intercepted them on the outskirts of the town before they could initiate the attack.

The security forces ambushed the advancing terrorists and engaged them in a fierce gun battle, killing dozens, injuring many others, and seizing several motorcycles and weapons.

During the encounter, five DSS operatives sustained serious injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment.

“This ambush follows the earlier elimination of over 50 bandits and has severely weakened Dogo Gide’s influence,” the source said. “We have intensified pressure on these violent groups, and the results are showing. These efforts are part of a larger strategy to protect our communities and dismantle terror networks.”

The latest success, coming shortly after another major offensive in the same LGA, has reportedly brought some relief to local residents.
